"Atabai"

SYNOPSIS
Atabai is an Azerbaijani middle-aged architect. By bringing prosperity to his village, he is of respect and dignity among the villagers. He takes care of his nephew and a garden as two precious legacies of his sister who committed suicide long time ago. Despite being a successful person in his work, Atabai feels lonely as he had failed in love when he was a young university student and is scared to confront love again.
DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Niki Karimi is an Iranian director, producer and internationally acclaimed actress who had her first film in the Un Certain Regard of Cannes and was Jury of Cinefondation. Her latest film, "Atabai" has strong images of Noori Ceylan and poetry of Kiarostami.

SYNOPSIS
Bahman is a poet, living in the chaotic city of Tehran. He is surrounded by many stressful issues. His girlfriend is leaving the country. He's losing ownership of his shop and constantly being chased by a motorcyclist. He cannot write poems anymore and becomes more isolated and fearful. In a society in which the rich and powerful define the rules, Bahman either needs to build up the courage to fight the injustice or accept the humiliation and lose everything.
DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Behnam Behzadi has made more than 20 shorts, TV movies and documentaries with various awards. His feature, "Bending the Rules" won Special Jury Prize in Tokyo IFF, Audience Award in Nantes and Special Prize in Mannheim. His third feature, "Inversion" was in "Un Certain Regards" of Cannes 2016 and more than other 25 festivals and released in France, Sweden, UK, Switzerland...

SYNOPSIS
Three Afghan women from different social background, living in Kabul, are facing challenges in their lives that have to resolve them on their own. Hava, a traditional pregnant woman, Maryam, an educated TV news reporter, and Ayesha, an 18-year old girl try to find a solution to their problems for the first time in their life in the patriarchal society of Afghanistan.
DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Sahraa Karimi, from the second generation of Afghan refugees in Iran, has a PHD in directing from Slovakia. After 10 years of making more than 30 short fictions and documentaries with numerous awards in international film festivals, she returned to her own country. "Hava, Maryam, Ayesha" is her first feature film which was shot entirely in Kabul with Afghan actors.
