Atabai is a middle-aged architect who's been back from Tehran to his home village in Azerbaijan province. Due to his social class and ethnicity, he has gone through failure in love as a young university student. Since then, by bringing prosperity to his village, he has found respect and dignity among the ones who love him. Yet, his sister's suicide after her forced marriage at the age of 15 keeps haunting him. He takes care of his nephew, Aidin and a garden as two precious legacies of his sister. Despite being busy and successful with his work, Atabai feels lonely and scared to confront love again.

BIOGRAPHYBorn in 1971, Niki Karimi, is an Iranian director, producer and internationally acclaimed actress. She debuted her career as an actress with "Temptation" in 1989 following by "Bride", a box office hit in 1990. Karimi has appeared in more than 35 films of famous directors such as "Pari" and "Sara" from Dariush Mehrjui, for which she won the best actress award at San Sebastian and Nantes Film Festival in 1992. She started her career as a director in 2001 with a documentary called "To Have or not to Have". In 2005, her first feature film, "One Night" was shown at the "Un Certain Regards" of Cannes in addition to numerous other international film festivals.In 2006, she made her second feature film, "A Few Days Later" which premiered at Rome Film Festival and many other film festivals. Her career as a producer debuted with the internationally praised film, "Final Whistle" in 2010 and continued in 2015 with "Night Shift " and " Azar " in 2017, which marked the first time she was producing another director's film. She has been the member of the jury in more than 35 national and international film festivals, such as Cannes (Jury of Cinefondation), Berlin (The Debut Features Section), Locarno, etc. "Atabai" is her latest feature as both the director and producer. |
