A strange event occurred in one of the Northeast prisons of Iran in 1998. The head of prison chose a man-prisoner of 34, who had been sentenced many times during his youth, to marry a woman-prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment. They begin their life together for one day a week in one of the rooms of the prison. After a while, they have a child and sometimes later, the woman is forgiven. Seven months later, the man’s conviction is over too, and they have the chance of living together out of the prison, but the rude society is waiting for them … This film is played by the real characters.

Mohammad Rasoulof was born in 1973 in Shiraz. He studied sociology, during which he pursued his interest in cinema. He saw cinema as a more effective way of influencing society . He started with short films. He was the assistant of director Rasuul Sadr Ameli who was awarded at Locarno 2002 with I Am Taraneh, 15. His first feature was awarded for The Best First Feature Film at Fajr Film festival 2003. |
