Under the Skin of the City” to Screen at the British Film Institute

The acclaimed film Under the Skin of the City, directed by Rakhshan Banietemad, will be screened at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London as part of a special programme curated by Laura Mulvey, the pioneering film theorist and writer.

 

Presented within the section “Towards a New Cinema,” the programme celebrates Mulvey’s BFI Fellowship Award and features films by women directors that explore motherhood and challenge traditional cinematic language.

 

Under the Skin of the City will be shown at BFI Southbank on:

 

  • 10 December 2025 – with an introduction by Laura Mulvey

  • 23 December 2025 – regular screening
